CANBERRA LION DANCE
Prosperous Mountain Dragon and Lion Dance (PMDLD), also known as Canberra Lion Dance, was formed by youths in 2007 to become Canberra's first locally-based lion dance troupe.
We are a small but growing non-profit community organisation. We welcome people of all ages and nationalities to participate in this fun, physical, and traditional art form. We train and perform different routines throughout the year and have a wide range of different vibrant lions and dragons to suit any occasion.
We have proven delivery of culturally authentic, immersive and high quality performances for any event. Our powerful percussion and friendly mascots heightens the experience.
Our 14 years of performing across Canberra and the region, as well as interstate, provides confidence that we can tailor the best performance for any sized event, and your guests will always enjoy a memorable performance!
We love performing for community events, private functions such as weddings, birthdays and grand openings, and also continue to perform at high profile events due to our proven track record of always delivering high quality performances.
WHAT WE DO
Our main focus is lion dance, however we have since added dragon dance and unicorn dance to our array of performances.
A variety or other roles including mascots, percussionists, and casual volunteers are also available.

Our troupe is proudly family friendly, and children of all ages take part by training and performing in lion dance and percussion.
We also conduct workshops for schools and holiday programs.
WE ARE COMMUNITY
As a non-profit and volunteer organisation, we are focused on serving our Canberra community through engaging lion dance.
We have proudly partnered with other worthy organisations such as Radio 1RPH, the Cancer Council and the Canberra Perinatal Centre because we love what they do and stand for!
WHERE DO WE PERFORM
We train throughout the year and perform for both public and private events, such as festivals, ceremonies, weddings, and birthdays.
The Lunar New Year (Jan/Feb each year) is our busiest period and you can catch us performing all over Canberra!
WE ARE VOLUNTEERS
Our members are passionate about lion dance and are all volunteers. We do not charge participation fees.
There is always a first-aid trained volunteer on site and we possess public liability insurance.
We train from 3pm on Sundays in Mitchell. Message us for more information!
WE ARE COVID-SAFE
As a volunteer-run organisation with no paid staff, we have the incredible support of our members and local community, which has ensured the strength of our organistion.
To ensure a COVID-safe environment, we have implemented a COVID plan. This will see some small changes in the way we train and perform, however, this will ensure we can continue to do what we love in a safe way for everyone to enjoy.
